Erin is excited to announce she has joined The Intuitive Counseling Group in Lincolnshire, Illinois. She brings with her specialized training in Gottman Method Couple's Therapy and in EMDR, a proven treatment for trauma. She has previously worked with the Youth & Family Counseling of Libertyville, Samaritan Counseling of the North Shore, and the Chaplain's Family Life Center of Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Erin's passion is strengthening relationships through non-reactive and empathic listening. She is also a certified ScreamfreeTM Parenting Leader, and naturally assists interested clients in spiritual integration of their life struggles with a non-sectarian approach.
Her thesis research on the experience of clergywomen was recently published in the journal Pastoral Psychology. (Sharp, E., & Huebner, A. (2014). Clergywomen and role management: A study of clergywomen negotiating maternity leave. Pastoral Psychology, 63(2), 147-170. DOI: 10.1007/s11089-013-0539-3).
Erin is also an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Prior to entering the counseling program at Virginia Tech, Erin had eight years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families (not to mention teams and boards!) in the parish. She lives in the Chicago area with her family.
